How to use it

  1. Add everyone you know of, starting with your champion.
  2. Ask your champion who else will need to be comfortable before this is approved.
  3. Place each person by influence and stance.
  4. Fill in what each one worries about and what they need to see.
  5. Use the chapter plan to build a proposal with a section for every reader.

Questions

How many people should be on the map?

Enough to cover every role that can say no. On most big deals that's four to six functions.

What if we can't reach a decision maker?

Write a chapter for them in the proposal. It's often the only thing from you they'll read.

Should we share this with the buyer?

No. It's a planning tool for your side. Share the plan that comes out of it.
